ANKA-III UCAV Hits Target with TEBER-82 Guided Bomb

ANKA-III UCAV Hits Target with TEBER-82 Guided Bomb

Guided Bomb In its first firing test, TUSAŞ ANKA-III flying wing UCAV successfully hit its target with ROKETSAN's TEBER-82 GPS+laser guided bomb carried under its wing.

The firing test was performed in the same month as the TEBER-82's external carriage test, which was announced on the first day of September 2024, showing rapid progress towards operational use. Targeting for TEBER-82 was provided by ASELSAN's AF-500 (ASELFLIR-500) electro-optical system placed under the nose, also present in the aforementioned munition carriage test.

AF-500 has significantly increased resolution for all cameras and laser designation ranges. ANKA-III is expected to receive the TOYGUN-100 EOTS alongside the KIZILELMA unmanned fighter in future. TOYGUN-100 will feature a low RCS structure, HD MWIR (1280x1024) camera, and laser designator with a range of 35 km. ASELSAN has announced on its X account that TOLUN small-diameter bombs will follow TEBER-82's firing test from ANKA-III.

It isn't known if TOLUN's test will also be with external carriage. TOLUN can be expected to have a range longer than 65 km when dropped from ANKA-III, as the slower-flying AKINCI UCAV achieved this range this year in a firing test from August 2024.

The UCAV stood stable despite the asymmetric loading and the centre of mass change from the munition's drop. This is one way to demonstrate flight control capabilities in keeping an already unstable flying wing aircraft stable even under this condition
