TUSAŞ ANKA-III flying-wing UCAV has performed its second weaponry test with the ASELSAN TOLUN Small Diameter Bomb, hitting the target successfully.
ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol previously announced that ANKA-III would drop TOLUN following the TEBER-82 laser+GPS guidance kit’s test.
The TOLUN bombs were carried under the wing hardpoints (one TOLUN for each hardpoint). However, due to ANKA-III’s intended nature as a stealth platform and TOLUN’s compatibility with internal bays, TOLUN will likely be eventually fired from them as well.
ANKA-III will be capable of using a variety of air-to-surface munitions, including TEBER, HGK, KGK guided general-purpose bombs; TOLUN SDBs; MAM-T glide munition; SOM and SOM-J cruise missiles. The UCAV will also be capable of using the SÜPER ŞİMŞEK UAV with jamming, decoy, and kamikaze payload options.
ANKA-III’s rapid test process can be partly attributed to its high commonality with AKSUNGUR and ANKA UCAVs in terms of electronics, communication, and flight control equipment. This will also ease operationalisation as the bases using ANKA and AKSUNGUR can smoothly transition to ANKA-III with greater performance.
