Saab has signed an agreement with the Swedish Defence Materials Administration (FMV) for additional Gripen C single-seat fighter jets.
“A contract amendment for four additional Gripen C fighter jets was signed by the Hungarian Ministry of Defence and the Swedish Defence Materiel Agency FMV on February 23, 2024.
Saab said that by amending the new contract, the Hungarian Air Force (HuAF) will have 18 Gripen C/D fighter jets in service to protect and defend Hungarian and NATO airspace.
14 Gripen C/D fighter jets were leased from Sweden in 2001 and entered service with the Hungarian Air Force in 2006.
