KNDS Offers CAESAR 6x6 SPG to Malaysia

During DSA 2024, organised in Malaysia, French-German joint venture KNDS proposed its CAESAR 6x6 155 mm SPG to the Malaysian Army. Army Recognition reported that KNDS, a German KMW and French Nexter joint venture, wants to participate in the Malaysian Army’s modernisation efforts for artillery systems with CAESAR 6x6 SPG. CAESAR 6x6 is a truck-based SPG offering a more compact platform compared to the 8x8 variant. The SPG uses a 155 mm howitzer with a 52 calibre barrel length. NATO-standard 155 mm ammunition can be fired from the gun, and rocket-assisted shells can reach ranges up to 55 km. The SPG was one of the systems delivered to Ukraine as part of military aid efforts and was actively used in combat during the Russo-Ukrainian War. Ukrainian forces use both 6x6 and 8x8 variants. Nexter is also developing a new variant dubbed CAESAR NG, which is also based on a 6x6 chassis. It will have increased engine power and fire control independence from GNSS.
