Department of Defence has awarded Lockheed Martin a contract worth $11.76 billion to manufacture 145 F-35 fighter jets in various configurations.

The update to the contract includes orders for a total of 48 F-35A planes for the United States Air Force, 16 F-35B jets and five F-35C jets for the United States Marine Corps, and 14 F-35C jets for the United States Navy. In addition, fifteen F-35A and one F-35B aircraft will be given to program partners not affiliated with the United States Department of Defence. Additionally, forty-nine F-35A jets and seven F-35B jets will be designated for clients interested in Foreign Military Sales.
