Regulation-Friendly TS1400 Engine to Run on T625 GÖKBEY Soon TurDef

TEI CEO Mahmut F. Akşit stated that the TS1400 turboshaft engine with parts complying with regulations will run on T625 GÖKBEY utility helicopters soon.

TEI’s CEO has announced the firm’s 2026 goals during the fifth Global Strategies in Aerospace and Defence Industry conference held in Antalya. Among the goals is the test run of indigenous TS1400 turboshaft engines that use components compliant with civilian aviation regulations on TUSAŞ’s T625 GÖKBEY utility helicopter.

T625 GÖKBEY’s initial deliveries are being made with CTS800 turboshaft engines, which are also used on T129 ATAK attack helicopters used by Turkiye and three export users.

Currently, the Turkish Gendarmerie operates the initial batch of T625 helicopters as the pilot service branch. Still, the helicopter is expected to serve in other branches, both military and civilian (Air ambulance missions, SAR operations, VIP transport).

TS1400 has been developed and flight tested on T625. Still, for the helicopter to freely roam the export market as planned, it needs to go through certification from certain aviation entities, such as EASA. The conclusion for the certification process was previously given as the end of 2025 with the serial production, while the deliveries with TS1400 are anticipated to begin in 2027-2028.
