SSB Announces Top Ten Turkish Defence Exporters

President of Defence Industry Agency (SSB) Professor Haluk Görgün shared a study summarizing 2023 in the field of the defence industry on social media. Underlining that he attaches importance to exports, Professor Görgün said, “The most basic condition for ensuring the sustainability of the growth in the defence industry is exports.”
Görgün evaluated the defence and aerospace exports of 2023 with the following words;
“Our defence and aerospace industry export figure, which was 4.364 billion dollars in 2022, reached 5.5 billion dollars with an increase of 27 per cent in 2023. Our defence industry has exported 230 products to 185 countries in different geographies worldwide in the last ten years. There is no doubt that this growth is the manifestation of Turkish defence industry products becoming respected brands in the world defence market.
While the average export amount per kilogram in Turkey is 1.57 dollars, our defence industry increased the export value per kilogram by 14 per cent compared to last year, exceeding 65 dollars, and made a high contribution to the Turkish economy and indirectly to social welfare.
At this point, Baykar alone undertakes 1.7 billion dollars of our sector’s exports and deserves special thanks. Our company, Baykar, which has “changed the game” and gained the appreciation of the whole world with the technologies it has developed, has been generating 83 per cent of its revenues from exports since 2003 and makes a significant contribution to our country’s economy with high technology exports.
