Russia continues to underwater investments. According to local media agencies, the first combat set of Poseidon nuclear Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) is ready.
Nuclear power plants of next-generation super torpedoes were installed as well. Systems are delivered for the brand-new Project 949A (NATO Reporting Name: Oscar II) class Belgorod (K329) submarine of the Russian Navy. The platform also completed the launch trials of Poseidon.
The system is also known as Status-6 Oceanic Multipurpose System or Kanyon-BZK-008. Poseidon is developed to carry out deep water long-range operations and can be equipped with up to 100 megatons warhead. The platform is intended as a deterrent delivery system for a nuclear strike to naval bases, critical infrastructure or anti-missile deployments. UUV can reach beyond 5,200 nautical miles range with relatively high velocity, thanks to nuclear propulsion.
