Turkish Defence Industry’s 2024 Export Champions Announced  TurDef

The winners of the 2024 Defence and Aerospace Export Awards, organised by the Defence and Aerospace Exporters’ Association, have been revealed. 
Turkish defence industry companies received their awards in various categories, with BAYKAR emerging as the overall export champion of 2024.  
Category Winners:  

- Aircraft and Components: TUSAŞ  

- Naval Platforms: ASFAT  

- Land Vehicles: RAM Dış Ticaret (OTOKAR)  

- Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: Baykar  

- Aircraft Engines and Components: TEI  

- Weapon Systems and Ammunition: MKE  

- Military Electronics, Radars, and Sensors: ASELSAN  

ASFAT, in a statement regarding the awards, highlighted its achievements at the event:  
Held in Antalya, the Global Strategies Conference in Defence and Aerospace Industry gathered key industry representatives to honour the top exporters of 2024. ASFAT, a company affiliated with the Ministry of National Defence, received three separate awards.  

The company was awarded:  
- Third place in weapon systems and ammunition exports  
- Third place in overall defence and aerospace exports  
- First place in military naval platform exports  

ASFAT’s General Manager, Behcet Karataş, accepted the awards on behalf of the company. The ceremony was attended by Musa Heybet, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, who also delivered a speech.  

ASFAT is a key player in Türkiye’s largest single naval project and plays a vital role in the global maritime sector by providing design, construction, integration, maintenance, and training services. As one of the fastest-growing entities in Türkiye’s expanding defence sector, ASFAT contributes significantly to the country’s prestige, economy, and international reputation through its production capacity, cost-effective working model, and high localisation rate.  

With access to 27 military factories and ten naval shipyards, ASFAT leverages nearly a century of expertise from Türkiye’s defence infrastructure, offering joint production and design solutions under the Ministry of National Defence.  
Adopting the vision of being one of the world’s leading defence companies, ASFAT achieved a significant milestone just four years after its establishment by being listed among the prestigious “Defense News Top 100” companies—becoming the youngest Turkish defence company on the list.
