Turkiye's First AIP Submarine Joins the EFES Exercise

Turkiye's first Reis Class Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) type submarine, Piri Reis (S 330), will participate in the Efes 2024 exercise. The Secretariat of Defence Industries (SSB) shared an important post about the Piri Reis (S 330) Submarine, which is counting the days to enter the Navy's inventory. Produced in Turkiye with maximum domestic resources, it has the Air Independent Propulsion System (AIP) feature, the ability to operate underwater for weeks without getting on the surface, the ability to operate in secrecy for a long time with low noise navigation capacity, high-speed torpedoes and the ability of guided missiles that can be launched at surface targets. SSB announced that the Piri Reis (S 330) submarine would participate in the EFES 2024 Exercise. When the submarine joins the inventory, the acronym TCG will be added, meaning Turkish Navy Ship. Germany's U-214 submarine was produced under license at Gölcük Shipyard Command. Greece procured the same type of submarine, but the project was suspended for a long time after acoustic and balance problems. Türkiye, on the other hand, made changes to the submarine and prevented these problems from occurring again.
