Russia Uses U.S. Ammunition in Ukraine

A Ukraine-based Instagram account, p1x_militarist, shared a photo of U.S.-made 203 mm HE M106 artillery shells obtained from Russian artillerymen. The 2C7 Pion (Peony), a Soviet-era self-propelled 203 mm cannon, can fire these shells. Ukraine also fires these 203 mm HE M106 artillery shells, which the U.S. has donated, but the shells obtained from Russian inventory are different as they are rather old. Iran may have sent them to Russia, as it might have received them during Shah Resa Pahlavi’s reign. This might indicate that Russia is also running out of such shells.
