GE Aerospace Extends Cooperation For HÜRJET Engine

GE Aerospace has announced the extension of its collaboration with TUSAŞ on HÜRJET advanced trainer/light combat aircraft. During Farnborough International Airshow 2024, GE Aerospace announced the MoU with TUSAŞ for F404-400 turbofan engines used on the HÜRJET advanced trainer. The MoU covers integrating the F404 engine on HÜRJET's future variants (Light Combat Aircraft, Aerobatics...).  F404 is used on many modern advanced trainer aircraft including KAI T-50 and Boeing T-7A.

The MoU can be described as a token of goodwill, with the past uncertainty of other variants considered. Additionally, TEI will provide engine maintenance services for HÜRJET's users, including export ones and non-HÜRJET users with aircraft using the F404 engine. This hints that HÜRJET is less likely to have engine issues regarding exports with a greenlight from GE Aviation. As the efforts are focused on TEI TF6000/10000 turbofans and KAAN fighter jet's indigenous engine being developed by TRMotor, cooperation with GE Aviation will likely lower the potential workload.
