TB3 Breaks the Altitude Record with TEI's PD-170 Engine

TB3 UCAV broke a new record by reaching an altitude of 33,000 feet with its indigenous engine and completed the High Altitude System Performance Test. Baykar announced that the testing process of Bayraktar TB3, an armed unmanned aerial vehicle, continues. Bayraktar TB3 UCAV completed the High Altitude System Performance Test by reaching an altitude of 33,000 feet in the flight carried out at AKINCI Flight Training and Test Center in Tekirdağ's Çorlu district. Taking off with the PD-170 engine developed by TEI, the UCAV reached the highest altitude with a domestic engine during the high-altitude flight test. The record with this engine formerly belongs to Turkish Aerospace twin-engine Aksungur UCAV. The TEI-PD170 turbodiesel aviation engine can generate 172 HP (± 2) and can run on JP-8 or Jet-A1 fuel. It has a 45,000 ft. service ceiling. The TEI-PD170 engine first flew with TUSAŞ's Anka platform on December 27, 2018, and continues its flights with Aksungur and Bayraktar TB3.
