Niger is known to be a user of all three firms’ various products. During his recent visit to Turkiye, the Prime Minister visited the firms after he visited ASELSAN facilities the previous day.
The country’s presidency announced a deal with Nurol for Ejder Yalçın 4x4 armoured vehicles in 2022. Multiple African and Eastern European countries with various weapon configurations use Ejder Yalçın.
The African country is a customer of TUSAŞ’s HÜRKUŞ light attack aircraft. Chad also uses HÜRKUŞ in the light attack role. The aircraft can be fitted with ROKETSAN UMTAS ATGMs, MAM-L smart munitions and CİRİT 70 mm laser-guided missiles.
HÜRKUŞ and Bayraktar TB2 Armed UAV of Niger are using ROKETSAN’s munitions. Thus, ROKETSAN is a regular supplier through the platforms.
Premier Zeine’s visits mark a new milestone in bilateral relations. The military of Niger staged a coup and gained control of the country in July of 2023. France and the United States were Niger’s primary security allies until the coup. However, the organisers of the coup, led by General Abdourahamane Tchiani, admitted that they were hostile toward France, the country’s former colonial master, and they issued an order for the French soldiers to withdraw from the country. Zeine’s visit to Turkiye is one of few foreign visits.
